Blame Game
Western culture is full of a bunch of control freaks. Take for example this Hurricane thing. I’ve been listening to the radio talk show circuit today and I’ve noticed that the overlaying theme seems to revolve around where we place the blame for all this chaos that is raging down in the gulf coast. Some say that president bush is to blame, others say it’s the governor, but I think that maybe, just maybe,……it’s the HURRICANE!! I know, I know, it seems like a crazy idea but would I be wrong in assuming that no man, no matter how powerful, has control over the weather. Could it be that sometimes, like the t-shirt says, shit happens. You see placing blame is a vain moronic attempt at gaining control over the situation so that we may possibly be able to avoid the same situation in the future. I understand that most of what people are bitching about in this situation is the fact that people are down there looting and killing each other but isn’t the hurricane about 95% to blame for that? I mean, people weren’t looting before the hurricane so it would seem that, through standard deduction, that the hurricane is the biggest factor in all of this. Shit is inevitably going to happen but we as humanity are so greedy and drunk with power that we just cant stand the fact that there are certain aspects of our existence that we just do not have any control over and that‘s why we will never stop playing the blame game. I’m sure that if we just let go of the wheel so to speak and just let this crazy train that is humanity steer itself, we would be surprised to find out how little control we actually do have.
