Infamy or Obscurity?
It troubles me that the media is giving this psycho killer down in Virginia so much coverage. It seems extremely obvious to me, especially after the rage filled manifesto he sent to NBC just hours before committing his reign of terror, that this level of coverage is exactly what this guy Cho wanted. What really troubles me is that I know that there are a myriad of other troubled, unpopular, self-absorbed kids out there that are looking at the level of fame this creep was able to attain and in some misguided desperate way envy it. In his “manifesto” Cho even made mention of the Columbine killers Eric and Dylan. Its my feeling that because of the level of coverage this is getting that there will inevitably in the coming weeks and months be copycat killings and that the media will once again throw its hands in the air and ask why. Well I’ll tell you one reason why, its because these troubled souls feel so depressed, withdrawn, and confused that they have already decided to end their own life, and with the current climate of media hysteria we live in the choice for these narcissistic souls is simple, infamy is more appealing than obscurity.
