Necessary Evil
I have a concealed weapons carry permit. I got it a little over a year ago and at first I was really into carrying my snub nosed revolver around but as with anything I got lazy and stopped carrying mainly because it can be a little uncomfortable at times socially as well as physically. However due to resent events in the news, like the trolley square thing and VA tech I now see the privilege that was given to me to carry a concealed weapon more as a civic responsibility than a luxury. It seems to me that I would feel really bad if I was put in a situation like the trolley square incident and didn’t have my conceal on knowing that I could maybe have saved lives if I had it. Therefore Ive decided to start carrying again knowing that 99.99% or maybe even 100% of the time the weapon will just turn out to be a somewhat uncomfortable hunk of metal in my waistband. Its sad because I now look at it kind of like an insurance policy that you always hate to pay the premiums on but in today’s world is fast becoming a necessary evil.
